I look forward to this fast every year and I feel like I'm finally in the right frame of mind at the right time this year to feel successful. Haven't had alot of success lately, in other areas, so this feels good.
I have found that by purging my body of all the junk I normally consume, I feel free of all the hang ups and emotions that come with my normal eating habits. No more feeling heavy and bloated and full and tired after lunch, or craving something and giving in to it just to feel guilty and sick later. Now, I don't know if I will be able to continue these habits after the fast, but I hope I can take some of the habits and make them permanent. I'm starting to see how a small, slender person ( or just plain healthy ) thinks . It's a total mind set where you are not medicating yourself with food, but rather eating for nutrition and energy. Instead of "I need coffee to wake up, or I need a treat before bed."
We went to the farmer's market, and I visited the organic section of the grocery store to stock up. I've been eating oatmeal plain, salads, beans, brown rice , fruits , nuts, seeds, and when I'm out I've been able to find vegie wraps, vegetarian burrito ( at Qdoba ) .
Tina and I have taken this opportunity to start "Purpose Driven Life" and try to strengthen our devotional life.
I remain hopeful and prayful during this time that a stronger relationship with God will follow.
