Loving Coffee vs. Loving God

So, when I have things on my mind I usually wake up in the middle of the night. Last night I went to bed in the 9's, but was awake from 1 to 5 a.m.

Knowing I would be so sleepy when the time came to get ready for work, overnight I started fantasizing about having a reunion with a nice rich cup of coffee in the morning to get me up and keep me going. I had pretty much decided/planned in advance to cheat on the fast with just this one cup...because I would need it.

Well, knowing that God was with me and that this sacrifice is for Him, I did not have the coffee. The opportunity to have it didn't miss my sight, but I am thankful that I beat the urge.

It's just that the urge hasn't gone away yet, so please pray for me!

Girl, I am the same way with Pepsi. However, I'm thankful because I haven't had any cravngs yet. Now that I've said that, I'm sure tomorrow will be presented with that very challenge....just watch!

I'm glad to hear you didn't give in. If you are a regular coffee drinker, I know that must have been tough. I'm not a big coffee person, but I wonder if there are any natural drinks/foods that can give a similar boost. Ideas anyone?

Water! It doesn't have the kick of caffeine but the oxygen in water does wonders when caffeine isn't available.

Also, eat a small meal, like peanuts and applesauce or granola and a banana. The size of this type of meal will give you energy but stop way short of the "itis". lol

Thank you all for these tips and encouragement. There is a soy coffee that I remember trying at a conference. If I see it, I'll pick it up as a substitute if it becomes that serious (which at this point I doubt, praise God).
